We don’t get enough calmness, stillness or warm silence.  This alone makes a practice session worthwhile.

At a practice session, we may do yoga stretch, we breathe, we sit in warm silence, and we do some chanting, singing or listening.  We do it to balance and support what goes on the rest of the time.  We appreciate the nurturing and clarity of being together in this way.   Sessions are one to three hours long and the emphasis may be on silent sitting, movement, breath or singing.

The content is mainly from Buddhist and Indian Yoga sources, chosen for relevance and all-inclusiveness.  Sessions are conducted with respect for space and silence, respect for the participants  and respect for the richness and generosity of ancient masters, without exaggerated intensity or religious dogma.  We explore some fundamentals of tuning up our being,  often missing in the North American lifestyle  and, sadly, decreasing even in the countries from which these practiced spawned.

Besides workshops and writing,  my other time in 2012 will be spent creating music recordings and studying and participating in services at  at Shambhala Meditation Centre Toronto,  Samagra Institute in Hamilton, Mother Meera Canada, Tao Sangha,  and the Institute of Traditional Medicine, Toronto.

I hope to offer more sessions at Yoga Studios, wellness institutions, schools and corporate settings later in the year and into 2013.
